Kellie Snooks, DO, MPH

Pediatric Critical Care Physician, MCW

Tell us a bit about yourself, including your professional background and your current role in medicine.

I am an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at MCW and an Attending Physician in Pediatric Critical Care at Children's Wisconsin. I completed medical school at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL and my Pediatrics Residency at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. My pediatric critical care fellowship was at MCW where I remained on as faculty starting in 2021. My academic focus is on health policy and advocacy, specifically on firearm injury prevention and community-based initiatives to prevent violence in youth.

What inspired you to pursue a career in medicine, and what drew you to your particular specialty?

Although my career is emotionally challenging, the one thing that drew me to Pediatric Critical care is the children and their families. Children are resilient.

What’s the most memorable moment you’ve had as a physician?

I have had so many memorable encounters with my patients and their families it is hard to pick just one.

What motivated you to join the MSMC board?

The focus on the community and how we can continue to reach out to our local community and give back to them.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

Shark Cage Diving in South Africa.
